Empty frame and the missing picture

I should have known
And I would have;
Had I cared enough about
The empty frame
And the missing picture

The reluctant hurricane
Wriggling in pain
Passed away silently
With the indifference of the dying

I was too busy running
To care about my legs
Now it’s horrible
And yet inescapable
The invariable sense of loss

In the bonfire
Of the uprooted trees
I try to warm my heart
Too cold, too pained
However,
It is not as cold as it used to be
What a sad comfort!
